Top Job Interview Questions

First thing first; prepare yourself for the interview. Research the company you are interviewing with.

Educate yourself before the interviewð€¦

*How does this business work?

*What does this company do?

*How does this company profit (if nonprofits or government agencies, how and whom do they serve)?

*What expertise and special qualities that successful professionals in this business share?

*What are the important trends in this business?

Secondly; review your resume. Going over your resume will help prepare for the questions asked during the job interview.

Describe your responsibilities in detail and tie them into the job youð€™re interviewing for.

Be specific to what you did in your previous position(s).

Why did you leave your previous job or why are you leaving your job?

Please do not make negative comments on why you left/leaving a job.

Let the interviewer know, if you are looking for a challenging position; or there wasnð€™t any room for growth within the company. Remember to always turn a negative into a positive.

What are your weaknesses?

Do not reply that you donð€™t have any weaknesses; we all have weaknesses.

This question is asked to see if youð€™re planning to be employed with the company for long term. The employer is seeking for someone long term. Donð€™t answer I plan to go back to school full time to get my degree; get married and stay home. Would you hire this person? Probably not; your 5 year goal should include you being with the company.

What are your salary expectations?

Research in advance of what similar jobs pay at that time. Donð€™t give a set salary always give a range. Example - $25,000-$30,000.You can also ask the interviewer the salary range. It is better to prepare yourself just incase you do not receive an answer.

Why should we hire you?

Give examples to why you would make the best candidate for the job.

Reiterate your interest in the company and applied for position.

After the interview is complete send a Thank you letter. Get a business card from the interviewer so that you have their contact information.

Send the Thank you letter as soon as you get home. Do not wait until the end of the week or the next day to do so. Show that you are interested and you want the job.
